RYLA Kathmandu 2011 was held at Budhanilkantha School starting from 14th June 2011 to 17th June 2011 where Rtr. Smreeti Shrestha, Rtr. Amul Regmi, Sarju Shah and Shradha Shah volunteer ed whereas Rtr. Mahima Joshi and Anima Regmi participated from Rotaract Club of Jawalakhel.
Rtr. Smreeti Shrestha and Rtr. Amul Regmi attended Zonal Meeting at Italcafee, Manbhawan which was hosted by ZR and ZS.
Rtr. Smreeti Shrestha, Rtr. Amul Regmi, Rtr. Saugat Joshi, Sarju Shah and Shradha Shah volunteered at Saathi ko Saath where there were total of 47 students from class LKG to class 8. Here, we divided into 5 groups according to the class and also divided the work of teaching and helping them in the studies. Therefore, we helped the children with the courses which they find really difficult.
On 21st May, 2011, Rotaract Club of Jawalakhel had its DRR visit at Future Stars High School, Jawalakhel where from the district DRR Rtr. Srijan Shrestha, DS Rtr. Amit Bajracharya, DT Rtr. Kush Rai, District Professional Service Director Rtr. Pranay Shakya and ZS Rtr. Muraj Bajracharya were present. From our parent Rotary Club i.e. Rotary Club of Jawalakhel, Rtn. Dr. Vijaya Shrestha (President) and Rtn. Manju Karki (Immediate Past President) were present In the DRR visit where their presence gave us strength and also moral support. The visit was really interactive between the members of the club and District members. In the meeting, the whole year work was submitted to the district and lots of confusion were made cleared during the visit. At the end of the DRR visit, we also celebrated birthday of the members, whose birthday was between the month of march and june.
Rtr. Amul Regmi attended Rotary meeting of Jawalakhel at Bronco Billy, Pulchowk where he shared information about Dinner program and also invited Rotarians to show their presence in DRR visit which is on 21st May at Future Stars High School at 2:30 pm
Rtr. Smreeti Shrestha attended 11th zonal meeting at Italcafee, Manbhawan which was hosted by Rotaract Club of Lalitpur Midtown.
For the betterment of the relation of parents and the members of our club we organized an "Rotarians and Rotaractor's Parents" dinner program at Chopstix, Kumaripati, As our parents have been really concerned about our busyness in Rotaract activities, through this program we were able to make them understand about Rotaract in great extent. Rtn. Manju Karki (IPP, Rotary Club of Jawalakhel) and Rtn. Dr Kanti Giri (Charter President, Rotary Club of Jawalakhe) was also present in that event. So the objective of making parents aware about our work was clearly accomplished.
Rtr. Smreeti Shrestha attended talk program of Rotary Club of Jawalakhel where the resource person was Barbara in the topic Youth Volunteers Nepal (YVN).
In the general meeting i.e. on 7th May 2011, we the Rotaract Club of Jawalakhel gave scholarship to Koshi Lama, as she belongs to poor family and not been able to afford for her further studies, and now she is in class 6 studying at Shivapuri Higher Secondary School, Maharajgunj. This scholarship program to Koshi Lama is our annual program where we have been giving her full scholarship in her studies like in admission, providing her books, stationaries and exercise books.
